Magnus Centre Inc. Objectives
•To assist individuals and/or families in gaining control over their lives and to reduce and/or eliminate the impact of both addictions and mental health issues.
•To create an accessible, seamless, and integrated continuum of care within one service site.
•To enhance the current service landscape of co-occurring disorders within the present addictions and mental health system.
•To nurture an environment of collaboration, transparency, and recovery.

1. High Quality Security
Direct telephone access for local residents to Magnus Centre security services.
Hourly rounds made by Magnus Centre security around the entire external property line and the subsequent appropriate security interventions if issues are identified.
The formulation of a North Point Douglas-Magnus Centre Community Security Committee. This committee could be composed of designated Magnus Centre employees, Winnipeg Police Service, and community residents, with the sole mandate of reducing the potential of security/policing concerns from occurring.
North Point Douglas Powerline meetings could be conducted within a designated space on the Magnus Centre site.
Develop a collaborative relationship with the Winnipeg Police Service.
Significant Security Upgrades within the facility once operational

 

2. Local Employment Opportunities
Ongoing advertising of Magnus Centre positions within local newspapers and other media formats.
Collaborate with local employment services to identify future opportunities
Notify Residents Committee of emerging positions.

3. Treatment Access for Local Residents
If experiencing issues pertaining to alcohol/drugs, can access our Centralized Intake service for assessment.
Upon leaving a Magnus Centre program, local residents of Point Douglas will have access to the Outreach Services for follow-up.

4. Access to Facility Space for the Community
Ongoing scheduled use of meeting rooms to accommodate community business functions.
Ongoing scheduled use of auditorium for community lectures and social functions.
Ongoing scheduled use of the community space on the rear exterior grounds of the Magnus Centre facility.

Key Points
•“Magnus Centre” is an interim name.  Now called River Point Centre
•Serve Winnipeg and surrounding communities.
•Men and Women over the age of 18
•Residential and Community-based services
•Will result in approximately 78 residential beds.
•All clients are voluntary
•All services are integrated, collaborative, and client centered
•Approximately 120 employees of varying professions
•All ongoing plans will be community inclusive
